Music is Delicious

Crunchy

That’s what it sounds like

my two favorite sounds coming from two different sources.

Food

Music

I always thought the things I love were never intertwined

Food

Music

That the connections I have with myself and the things around me were not related

Family Love

Connection Outside Emotion Detatchment

These two concepts were always intertwined I just discovered this tonight

I love music like I love food

my two biggest obsessions

I describe music like I do food.

Rosalia?

Buttery savory flavors of vanilla, home and chocolate. (I love chocolate this is more biased.) She smells like a sense of security, a chance to reconnect, on the palette there is a motif or theme of radical expression, unapologetic cultural expansiveness.

I stand by this. And I love so many artists in the same perspective, in the same breadth.

Doja Cat?

A hard pill to swallow really crunchy vivacious, and sounds like what peppermint tastes like to me, and feels like sexuality expressed in an amazing creative way. Am i attracted to who doja cat presents herself in her music to be? The character of anticipatory sexuality? The performance of Doja? Yes, very much indeed.

I’m not dick whipped to me, i’m whipped up in musicality, this particular expression of who someone is. Ofcourse I am attracted to what is meant to be an alluring sound. Does it irk me as a feminist? Yes, will I continue to love Doja Cat? Also yes, even if I am embarrassed by her outward image at times, all of that aside I love music and Doja Cat’s music? Phenomenal to me.

So okay cool now you know I can distinguish an artist from their work.

But taste wise? Ofcourse it’s called taste… europeans all think food is such an intensely gorgeous artform.

Music

Food

I digress again, tasty music to me right now is Miles Davis, is Jazz, there’s so much to chew on there as a musician. What I listen to on rotation is not Jazz it’s music that is comforting, it’s nostalgic music that tastes like pasqualina, that feels like TimTams and Nana’s hugs. Surprisingly the artists and genres that circulate this nostalgic “taste” is ofcourse Rosalia, Kehlani, Shawn Mendes, John Mayer, Selena Gomez. Ofcourse I still listen to Selena Gomez, and I will die on that hill if another academic paper needs to be created to understand why, that’s exhausting please just stop being close minded.

Food

Music

So right now I’m in the mood for chocolate, and cozy and the feelings of safety, that sounds like Misty in particular Ella Fitzgerald’s version. And warmth like La Madrague with Brigitte Bardot. I’m not surprised I think this way anymore I got it from my Dad, a music historian a record spinner and deep observant listener in such an artistic way.

Family

Music

But enough about me, what do you feel like eating?

Awareness

Music

Do you know what you need? Maybe you need some water, Tyla is a great quencher of thirst or so I’ve heard.

I think what I needed growing up was…

more communication and less emphasis on food being a connection to everything. But who knows maybe I wouldn’t like chocolate the way I do now, most things remind me of chocolate, most things remind me of you, most things captivate my attention but mainly what captivates me is…

FOOD

MUSIC

soliloquies of community for me and for you.

(P.S. not apart of the poem but if you’re new to the open minded music scene, try a whole bunch of genres see what you like, music is such a creative artform that we take for granted sometimes as to how complex of a medium it is, I’d reccomend for those who listen to radio, stick to pop/popular music and find a genre within pop that you like. Do you like 80s rock pop? Or indie pop, like Remi Wolf and Still Woozy (they’re very young artists) or would you rather listen to pop based on your age? Or the meaning behind the words more? Do you like music that elicits revolutionary sentiments? Or radical ideas? What makes your taste different and can you find that within music? I bet you can. Dm me on instagram @lolaslovework I’d love to chat about it even if I don’t know you. (yes for free right now) )
